Good morning. Governor Kathy Hochul says New York is preparing for a "worst-case scenario" as health officials monitor three residents quarantined due to hantavirus concerns. The individuals—residents of Orange County, Westchester, and New York City—were passengers on a cruise ship that saw a deadly outbreak of the illness. While sixteen passengers are currently receiving assessment at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, state health officials emphasize there is no immediate risk to the general public here at home. The Governor confirmed yesterday that the state is working closely with local health departments to monitor the situation as it develops. In Albany, police are investigating a harrowing weekend crash involving several teenagers. Meanwhile, a second victim has died following a devastating fire in Troy last month. 70-year-old James Olyer passed away from injuries sustained in the April 29th blaze on Fifth Avenue. The fire previously claimed the life of 67-year-old John Morton. The cause remains under investigation. And in Albany County Court, 26-year-old Celanna Smith has been found guilty of a shooting last August. Smith was convicted of shooting a woman in the back during a dispute on Albany Street. She is scheduled for sentencing in July.Turning to the Mid-Hudson Valley... motorists are feeling the pinch at the pump this morning.
